Specialist trauma therapy and support, offering a range of approaches including EMDR. Lydia is a registered Mental Health Nurse and therapist with over 20 years’ experience working within CAMHS services, and over a decade providing direct therapy to clients of all ages.

Sessions are available online and face to face in the Solihull area of the West Midlands.

I support individuals experiencing mental health and emotional difficulties linked to distressing past or present experiences. I also work with those facing physical health challenges that have psychological or psychosomatic origins. My practice includes helping young people who encounter barriers to accessing support due to complex needs such as developmental trauma and neurodiversity. Additionally, I offer parent-focused treatment options tailored to reach and support the most hard-to-reach young people.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a gentle, effective therapy that helps your brain process and heal from distressing past experiences. In the first stage, we work together to understand your history and identify the roots of your trauma, creating a clear, compassionate plan tailored to you. Then, through guided eye movements or other rhythms, EMDR helps reduce the emotional impact of these memories, so you can feel calmer, more confident, and ready to move forward.

Parent Based Treatment

Lydia has over a decade of experience supporting parents and carers using Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) and, more recently, Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE). These evidence-based approaches strengthen parent well-being and help reduce distress and symptoms in children. They’re especially valuable when young people face barriers to engaging in therapy or as a helpful addition alongside direct support for the child.

Advanced Integrative Therapy

Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT) recognises that our mind, body, and energy are connected, and that trauma can become trapped in the nervous system throughout the body. These trapped memories can affect how we feel, think, and relate to others, leading to challenges like anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and physical symptoms. AIT helps gently release these stored memories, promoting healing on emotional, mental, and physical levels.

Client Feedback

“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for all your support last year. Only now am I beginning to truly understand how much I’ve grown and healed. Since July 2022, I’ve been traveling solo and absolutely loving it. While there have been many beautiful moments, I’ve also faced challenges—scary, sad, and stressful situations. It’s in these moments that I realize how well-equipped I am to manage my thoughts and emotions. Overcoming fears has become easier, and I can navigate difficult situations far better than I could a year ago.” (23 year old)

Over the past 3–4 months, our 15-year-old son, has had weekly online EMDR sessions with Lydia. These sessions have been instrumental in helping him navigate daily adolescent challenges and overcome past negative experiences.

We’ve observed remarkable changes in him. He exhibits increased confidence, a more positive attitude toward family life and schoolwork, and a greater openness in discussing various aspects of his life. He appears calmer and more comfortable in his own skin.

Lydia has kept us well-informed about his progress, providing regular updates while respecting his privacy. Her professionalism and approach have been exemplary, ensuring that his needs remain at the forefront while supporting us as parents. (Dad)

I underwent EMDR therapy with Lydia, which helped me process unprocessed and traumatic memories. These memories often remain unprocessed due to various reasons, such as high stress or the belief that ignoring them will make them disappear. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, like guided eye movements, to activate both sides of the brain, facilitating the processing of these memories.

An analogy I find helpful is thinking of a traumatic memory as a bear. If you poke the bear too much, it becomes fully awake and uncontrollable. EMDR gently wakes the bear, making it easier to handle and process.

EMDR was challenging and tiring, but the changes in my life have been profound. I no longer carry the same burdens, and it’s as if a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. My outlook on life has improved, and I no longer feel like the world is against me.

For me, therapy has been a journey of self-discovery and healing. It’s a space where I can understand myself better and find the strength to move forward.”

(15 year old )

“6 months ago I did not think I would ever get better from this chronic pain. I could not go to school and rarely left the house. I am now attending school full time, meeting up with friends and believe I can live with this. EMDR has changed my relationship with the pain and improved my quality of life” (16 year old)

“I honestly think she is ready to do anything she chooses now, she is managing so much better” (Mum)

“Lydia has been incredibly supportive, keeping us well-informed through regular phone calls, emails, and updates. It’s reassuring to be kept in the loop while knowing our child’s privacy is respected. Throughout the process, Lydia has focused on our son’s needs, empowering us to support him effectively.

Our son has expressed that, through EMDR therapy, Lydia has helped him feel safe when recalling triggering situations. She’s guided him in reducing the emotional intensity of these memories, making them less distressing. He was initially fearful of these triggers but now approaches them with newfound confidence.” (Mum)
